Garden Bench
One of my former colleagues was a maritime engineer, but when he wasn’t engineering, he wanted to relax at home.
He wanted a garden bench, and he contacted me to help him design one.
I received a couple of pictures for inspiration and a photo of the place he had picked out for the bench
How the Project started
I was also provided with a hand drawn sketch with some dimensions.
There were some additional requirements such as:
- Easy to build
- Able to fit pillows on the bench at a comfortable height
- Able to store those pillows in the bench
- Able to keep those stored pillows dry
Bring out the blocks!
After I had a clear picture of what he wanted, I started to block out the design.
This gave a big, free-standing frame for revision 1.
Can I have it less bulky?
After discussing revision 1 he wanted some changes:
- A smaller version
- Closer to the wall
