Basic Design Trimaran
The stability of a trimaran, coupled with the spacious comfort of a catamaran and the cool factor of an old-skool pirate vessel, like the Jackdaw from Assasin’s Creed 4 black flag.
That, in a nutshell, is what led to this small project.
Why?
Well…. why not?
What does a dreamboat look like?
There are as many answers to this question as there are people willing to answer it, but there are a couple of requirements that a lot of people tend to agree on.
- It gives you freedom
- It feels like a home, your home…
- It brings you adventure.
So how do we meet those requirements?
Well I’m glad you asked…

Getting specific
Okay, so those earlier requirements are cool and all…
well… more than cool, but they’re also pretty hard to measure.
So the right thing to do is expand and get more specific with those requirements. What does this vessel need?
- It has to be safe, high in stability and very seaworthy.
- It has to have redundancy. Redundancy is a life saver when you’re at sea. Double engines, in multiple hulls, or different engines that can drive the same propellor. Multiple power banks, emergency generator and power banks, that sort of stuff.

Balancing out the balance
- It has to be comfortable, shield us from the weather and allow us to live comfortably.
- Shallow draft to visit shallow bays and lagoons.
- Multiple masts for extra redundancy and lower center of effort.
- Space for a diving compressor.
With all these requirements narrowed down another step, I started blocking out the main volumes to the point where it could be taken into more detailed engineering.
