Fitness Frame
I needed a playhouse/fitness style frame, as multi-functional as it could be while keeping a small footprint.
Enter the… “some fancy name” custom frame.
It’s hard to be simple
It’s easy to over-complicate and over-engineer something.
There’s always a wish for that extra feature or option to add on top of a design that would very quickly over-complicate a design.
It’s not hard to do that. It’s hard to keep it simple, which is what I set out to solve with this project.
This project took several iterations before arriving at this point.

Gimme the features!
Well, okay:
- It has to have a small footprint
- It has to be minimalistic
- It has to be as multifunctional as possible.
- It has to have monkey bars.
- It has to have mounting options for swings and TRX style equipment
- It has to be high and sturdy enough to be able to carry a tall boxing bag.
Seems pretty easy right? Let’s get to it then!
Creating the model
- Block out the main volume
- Create the main support beams
- Create the secondary beams
- Create and space out the monkey bars
- Create and space out the straight bars (green in picture)
- Create mounting plates under the main supports.
And with the model done, it’s time build it and test it.
